Robin Gibb Dies: Photos of Maurice, Barry Gibb And The Bee Gee's Incredible Career

Bee Gees Rank Third for Most Hot 100 No. 1s in History

As part of the Bee Gees, the late Robin Gibb's impression on the Billboard Hot 100 will be felt forever.

The trio racked up nine Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles -- more than any other group in history save for the Beatles (with 20) and the Supremes (12). Of their chart-topping hits, their biggest is "How Deep Is Your Love," which reigned for three weeks in 1977 and spent 33 weeks on the chart -- the group's longest-running single.

On Billboard's compilation of the Bee Gees' top 20 Hot 100 singles, "How Deep Is Your Love" is joined by the act's 14 other top 10 singles, including such massive No. 1s as "Night Fever," "Stayin' Alive," "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" and "Jive Talkin'."

The Bee Gees' initial chart hit came in 1967, with "Now York Mining Disaster 1941," which climbed to No. 14 and became the first of 43 Hot 100 hits for the group. They most recently charted in 1997 with "Still Waters (Run Deep)," a single from their Still Waters album. The song topped out at No. 57.

Additionally, Robin Gibb's chart success wasn't limited to songs that the Bee Gees recorded. He also co-wrote, with his bandmate brothers Barry and Maurice, Yvonne Elliman's Hot 100 No. 1 "If I Can't Have You." With brother Andy Gibb, the trio authored his third No. 10, "Shadow Dancing." As recently as 2001, Robin Gibb's name appeared in the Hot 100's top 10: Destiny's Child's cover of Samantha Sang's No. 3 hit from 1978, "Emotion," reached No. 10.

This ranking of the Bee Gees' biggest Billboard hits is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least. To ensure equitable representation of the biggest hits from each era, certain time frames were weighted to account for the difference between turnover rates from those years.

Bee Gees' Top 20 Billboard Hits

Rank - Title - (Year) - Hot 100 Peak Position (weeks spent at No. 1)

1. "How Deep Is Your Love" - (1977) - No. 1 (for 3 weeks)
2. "Night Fever" - (1978) - No. 1 (8 weeks)
3. "Stayin' Alive" - (1978) - No. 1 (4 weeks)
4. "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" - (1971) - No. 1 (4 weeks)
5. "Jive Talkin'" - (1975) - No. 1 (2 weeks)
6. "Too Much Heaven" - (1979) - No. 1 (2 weeks)
7. "Love So Right" - (1976) - No. 3
8. "You Should Be Dancing" - (1976) - No. 1 (1 week)
9. "Tragedy" - (1979) - No. 1 (two weeks)
10. "Love You Inside Out" - (1979) - No. 1 (1 week)
11. "Lonely Days" - (1971) - No. 3
12. "Nights on Broadway" - (1975) - No. 7
13. "I've Gotta Get a Message To You" - (1968) - No. 8
14. "I Started a Joke" - (1969) - No. 6
15. "One" - (1989) - No. 7
16. "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" - (1976) - No. 12
17. "Boogie Child" - (1977) - No. 12
18. "Words" - (1968) - No. 15
19. "Run to Me" - (1972) - No. 16
20. "(The Lights Went Out In) Massachusetts" - (1967) - No. 11
(This story was updated on May 21 at 10:42 AM PST, correcting the number of weeks at No. 1 for "How Deep Is Your Love." The song spent three weeks at No. 1, not four, as earlier reported.)

Bee Gees Singer Robin Gibb Diagnosed With Liver Cancer

Bee Gees
Robin Gibb, one-third of the 70′s singing group the Bee Gees has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Robin sung in the group with brothers Barry and Maurice and spawn such hits as “Stayin’ Alive” and “First of May.”
The singer had been battling a year-long list of sicknesses which forced him to cancel various public appearances. Robin underwent gastro-intestinal surgery in August 2010 and appeared frail last week as the 61-year-old was rushed to the hospital by ambulance from his home in Oxfordshire.
On Oct. 14 Robin Gibb was hospitalized for three-days for inflammation of the colon.
According to British newspaper The Mirror the singer was actually diagnosed with the deadly disease several months ago while his wife Dwina says she “hasn’t left his side” because the diagnosis doesn’t look good. Brother Barry and mom Barbara have also made their way over from the United States to be by his side.
While it’s still not confirmed there’s a chance that Robin has the same condition that claimed his twin brother Maurice Gibb 8 years ago. Former bandmate Maurice died of a heart attack as surgeon’s attempted to fix a twisted intestine.
According to a statement from his family:
“Robin is not good and there is a lot of concern for him. You can use your wealth to call in the best experts but sometimes no amount of fame, prestige and money can change things when it comes to cancer. But Robin is a strong character, he is a fighter and has been encouraged by all the online messages from his fans. Dwina is doing everything possible and hasn’t left his side. There will be difficult times ahead but Robin will never give up and his loving family will make sure he has everything he needs. There is frustration because Robin has always looked after himself. He doesn’t drink, eats well and exercises daily.”

Robin Gibb, best known as being one-third of the Bee Gee's, died on Sunday, May 20, after battling cancer.
Gibb is credited as being a co-founder, along with his twin brother Maurice Gibb and older brother Barry Gibb, of the Bee Gee's.
While the trio had an amazingly successful career throughout multiple decades, they are remembered for making their mark on two distinct periods in time: In the late 1960s/early 1970s as a mainstream pop act and in the late 1970s as major players in the disco craze that swept the nation.
Originally from the Isle of Man, the Gibb brothers grew up in Chorlton, Manchester, England, but began their musical careers after having moved to Australia in the late 1950s.
The Bee Gee's achieved their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" and eventually moved back to the UK where they would form a relationship with music producer Robert Stigwood. Stigwood would play a key role in promoting the Bee Gee's to a worldwide audience.
It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
A known rivalry between Robin Gibb and Barry Gibb eventually prompted Robin to leave the group and begin a solo career.
Robin Gibb's solo career first gained traction with a number 2 UK hit, "Saved by the Bell," which sold over one million copies, and received a gold disc.
However, Gibb's first solo album, "Robin's Reign," was less successful and he soon found that being a solo artist was unsatisfying.
Despite having almost completed a second solo album, "Sing Slowly Sisters," Gibb reunited with his brothers, who then revived the Bee Gees.
While still completing projects with the Bee Gees, Robin Gibb also promoted his new solo career. During the 1980s, Gibb released three solo albums: "How Old Are You?" "Secret Agent" and "Walls Have Eyes".
The Bee Gee's were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. The presenter of the award to "Britain's first family of harmony" was Brian Wilson - lead singer of the Beach Boys, a "family act" also featuring three harmonizing brothers.
According to the Bee Gees' Hall of Fame citation, "Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees".
Following Maurice's sudden death in January 2003, the Bee Gee's finally called it quits with Barry and Robin Gibb retiring the group's name after 45 years of activity.
In 2009, however, Robin announced that he and Barry had agreed that the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again.
Robin Gibb was 62-years-old when he died after a battle with cancer.

ACL Injuries in Female Athletes, ARE YOU A PARENT OF A FEMALE ATHLETE? DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR CHILD!

When to return to sports after ACL surgery

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

By Paul Kochoa, PT, DPT, CGFI
Many times I’ve been asked by a patient that’s had reconstructive surgery for their ACL: “When can I go back to playing ______?”  I tell them that returning to sports after an ACL surgery depends on many factors.  A study in the Journal of Orthopedics and Sports Physical Therapy can help though.
The ACL, anterior cruciate ligament, is an important static stability structure of the knee.  It controls rotation and forward/backward movement in the knee joint itself.  It also is a key component for balance and joint position feedback to the brain.  Without the stability of an intact ACL, sports-related movements such as running and cutting or jumping and landing can be painful or unstable.  It can rupture in contact and non-contact sports on a variety of surfaces.  Depending on the type of activity that the person wants to return to, reconstructive surgery may or may not be indicated.
In the June issue of JOSPT, patients who underwent reconstructive ACL surgery were compared to athletes with healthy knees in several tests similar to those used by the National Football league in their NFL Combine.  Athletes were asked to hop on their ACL-repaired leg and compared those results with their uninjured leg.  Of nine different tests, three hop tests were sensitive enough to indicate differences in non-injured and post-op legs.  The tests were:  single hop forward, three hops forward, and the cross-over hop.  For how to perform these tests, check out this picture)  In these tests, the post-op leg covered only 92%, 91%, and 92% of the distance, respectively, of the uninjured side.
Performance on these tests indicated the stability and strength of their injured versus non-injured side, and thus can represent the risk of re-injury.  The post-op leg should perform at least 90% of the uninjured side prior to returning to sports activity.  Using these tests in addition to a thorough physical examination and rehabilitation program can ensure that an athlete can return to their sport with less risk and less pain.
Sports performance is all about observations, tests, and measures.  This is objective, measurable data that can determine the difference between a win and a loss.  Physiotherapy is similar.  Objective tests and measures and evidence-based rehabilitative techniques can determine the difference between a successful outcome or less than optimal results.
So if you’re an athlete that has had reconstructive ACL surgery, try these tests and see how you do.  Remember to seek medical attention if symptoms increase or contact your local physiotherapist for further advice.

"You can prevent ACL injury. If you have a daughter who is playing basketball, soccer [or other field or court sports], then it is crazy if her team isn't undertaking one of the evidenced based warm-ups targeting lower limb injury prevention." British Journal of Sports Medicine, October 2008

Female Athletes Have Arrived
More women and girls are playing sports than ever before. The spectacular performance of the women in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics and the popularity of women's professional soccer, basketball, golf and tennis have had a profound influence on little girls. Forget about "Be like Mike," instead "Be like Mia!"

The speed, power, and intensity of women's sports have dramatically increased over the past decade. With this style of play has come an increase in musculoskeletal injuries. One of the more common injuries is a sprain or rupture of the ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) of the knee.

Anatomy of the Knee

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of four main ligaments of the knee. It is located inside the knee and runs from the thigh bone (femur) to the shin bone (tibia).

Its functions are to keep the tibia (shin bone) from sliding forward on the knee and to stabilize the knee when it twists (rotation). So in straight-ahead sports like jogging, swimming, and biking, there is little stress to the ACL. But in the sports that involve cutting, planting and changing direction (football, soccer, basketball, skiing, gymnasics, field hockey, ice hockey, wrestling, lacrosse, rugby, tennis) the ACL plays a vital role.

Injury Statistics

According to 1998 injury statistics from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 81,600 people injured their knee playing soccer, and 225,800 sustained injuries in basketball. Gymnastics, soccer and basketball are followed by field hockey, volleyball, lacrosse and softball as sports that cause ACL injury in females. (4)

Studies show that women are 2 to 8 times as likely as men to have an ACL injury. (4) In 1995, an article was published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine that found that female basketball players in the NCAA tore their ACLs four times more often than male basketball players. In the same study, women who played NCAA soccer sustained ACL injuries twice as often as male soccer players.

An estimated 200,000 ACL injuries occur annually in the United States. Approximately 60,000-75,000 ACL reconstructions are performed each year.(6)

Causes of Injury
The reasons why this is the case are not easily explained. It is helpful to divide these causes into two groups:
1. Mechanisms of Injury
2. Anatomical and Hormonal Factors

Mechanisms of Injury

Most ACL injuries are non-contact related: running and cutting sharply in a more erect posture than in men, landing from a jump without bending the knees sufficiently, and playing on surfaces with a high coefficient of friction. The level of skill and experience of the athlete is always of significance. Of course, contact injuries like a direct blow to the knee from the rear or side can cause a tear in the ACL. The tear usually occurs in the mid-portion of the ligament which is the weakest part.

"Commonly, the athlete runs, suddenly stops, and then turns, thereby causing a deceleration of the lower limb, a forced hyperextension of the knee, or a forced tibial rotation...." "Other mechanisms include an internal rotary force applied to a femur on a fixed weight-bearing tibia, an external rotation force with a valgus [outward] force, or a straight anterior force applied to the back of the leg, forcing the tibia forward relative to the femur." (4)

Noncontact injury
An audible pop often accompanies this injury, which often occurs while changing direction, cutting, or landing from a jump (usually a hyperextension/pivot combination). Within a few hours, a large hemarthrosis develops. Patients usually are unable to return to play, secondary to pain, swelling, and instability or giving way of the knee.

Contact and high-energy traumatic injuries
These injuries often are associated with other ligamentous and meniscal injuries. The classic "terrible triad" involves a valgus stress to the knee with resultant injury to the ACL, Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL), and medial meniscus.(6)

Anatomical and Hormonal Factors
1. Intercondylar notch size. This is the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels. The size and shape of the notch tends to be smaller in women. This narrowness may predispose women to higher rates of ACL injury. Not only is this groove smaller in women, but the actual size of the ACL itself (MRI cross section of the ACL in a man averaged almost 14 millimeters larger than in females at the width of the space through which the ACL travels) is smaller in women (1).

2. Pelvis size. Women typically have a wider pelvis, which makes the thigh bones angle downward more sharply than in men. This is called the "Q" angle. The greater the angle, the more pressure put on the inside (medial aspect) of the knee. (3)

3. Ligament laxity. Women's ligaments can be more lax (have more give) than men's ligaments. Also, research has shown that women's muscle tissue is more elastic than male muscle tissue. Therefore, excessive joint motion combined with increased flexibility may be an important cause for women tearing their ACL at a higher rate. (3) As a women approaches the end of knee extension, the femur glides forward more than in men. (4)

4. Reflex time. It has been shown that female muscles stabilizing the knee may take a millisecond longer to respond than their male counterparts. It is suspected that this small difference in the time of contraction to protect the knee could also lead to injury. (3)

5. Quadriceps/Hamstring Strength Ratio. The hamstrings reduce forward motion of the tibia (tibial translation) in synergy with the ACL. "In men, the hamstring is recruited first to stabilize the knee during anterior tibial translation. On the other hand, women rely more on the quadriceps [front thigh muscle] and gastrocnemius [calf] to resist anterior tibial translation." (4)

Poor hamstring strength in both sexes may be a cause for ACL injury. If the hamstring cannot balance the power of the quadriceps, then this imbalance can cause significant stress to the ACL. (3)

6. Hormones. A recent study suggests that changes in estrogen levels during the menstrual cycle may affect the strength of the ACL. This may predispose women to the higher injury rate. (3)

Return To Play(5)
A four phase return to play should be followed to safely return the athlete to the playing field:
1. Functional Balance and Core Strength
    a. Normal walking gait
    b. Normal running gait with complete range of motion
    c. Double leg squat

2. Functional Strength
    a. Bilateral symmetry in balance
    b. Single leg squat

3. Power
    a. Double and single leg plyometric exercises

4. Sport Specific Symmetry
    a. Running and jumping training in all planes of motion: forward/backward, side to side, rotation.

Injury Prevention: The Good News
Multiple studies have shown that a proper training program can be very effective at decreasing the rate of ACL injury.

"A training program developed at the University of Vermont Medical School designed to prevent ACL injuries in skiers demonstrated a 69% decrease in injuries among ski patrol personnel and instructors who received the training compared with those who did not. Another prevention program developed in Cincinnati demonstrated that a six week program of training could reduce the risks of knee ligament injuries in female athletes. One of the important aspects of the training program is to train these athletes to rely more on hamstring muscles than quadriceps, thereby protecting the knee ligaments. A controlled study of women athletes who did not participate in the training program compared with those who did indicated a five times higher incidence of knee injury than in male athletes. Females who participated in the training had injury levels equal to or only one or two times higher than males." (2)

How You Can Prevent ACL Injury

1. Proper leg muscle strength and flexibility training as well as core training.
2. Proper neuromuscular (balance and speed) training. A proper training program would include squats, lunges, stiff-leg deadlifts, hamstring curls, and different types of jumping movements. These jumping movements would progress from:
slow jumps landing on two legs in one plane of motion
slow jumps landing on two legs in multiple planes of motion (front to back, side to side, and rotation)
slow jumps landing on one leg in one plane of motion
slow jumps landing on one leg in multiple planes of motion
faster jumps landing on one or two legs in multiple planes of motion
3. Proper coaching on jumping and landing and avoiding any straight knee landing.
4. Proper footwear and orthotics if necessary.

Kristen Wiig will be busy after 'SNL'

Did you catch Saturday Night Live last night? Hosted by Mick Jagger, the rock star managed to make us laugh hysterically a few times including the multiple jabs at his crazy stage antics. But, the emotion ran over when the show aired their final skit of the season: a farewell to the brilliant, talented and funny Kristen Wiig.
Yes, Kristen is saying farewell to the Saturday Night crew like all the best and funny ones do. Kristen clearly proved that she’s ready to take over the world when she co-wrote and starred in “Bridesmaids.” Now, she’s ready to take on more film roles and write them too! To say goodbye, Mick and company serenaded her with the song “Ruby Tuesday” while each cast member took a turn dancing with her. Even creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels took a turn dancing with her. The part that will choke you up is watching her dance with fellow cast members Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis. The poor guy can barely hold himself together.
Kristen will truly be missed on the show as she was a refreshing sight to many skits over what some may say is a dry, few seasons. Watch the touching tribute below.

It’s often been said that the only era of Saturday Night Live you find really funny is the one that was airing when you came of age.
Still, as SNL players graduate to prime-time or even more commonly, film, even olds will totally find newer stars of the late night variety show hilarious and appealing. For many, Kristen Wiig is the SNL breakout star of the now, destined for success rivaling that of fairly recent alums Adam Sandler and Tina Fey. Wiig steals the show in many of her projects, with good across-the-board appeal that translates to decent performances in slapstick as well as standard acting.
Also, she’s kinda hot. The 38-year-old comedienne was recently dubbed GQ “bro of the year,” and accepted the honor, doing a sex-ay lingerie shoot for the men’s mag. 40-year-old Bridesmaids co-star Jon Hamm talked about Wiig’s versatility in the mag, discussing how Wiig can occupy “grotesque” comedy characters and switch back with ease. He said:
“The first time I noticed her was watching the SNL sketch ‘Lady Business.’ Kristen’s line was, “I’m a bitch in the boardroom, a bore in the bedroom, and I’m a bear on the toilet,’ which she delivered with over-the-top seriousness,” Hamm, 40, writes. “I thought, ‘My God, this girl is funny.’”
Hamm continues:
“The opening bit in Bridesmaids with all the crazy sexual acrobatics was done on the very last day of shooting,” he writes. “Bounding around in a flesh-colored thong, trying not to sweat all over Kristen while a hundred crew members are literally like, ‘Can we get this done, please?’ Our embarrassment coupled with everyone else’s exhaustion lent that scene a particularly awkward sensibility.”
He concludes:
“But it was inspiring to watch Kristen quarterback the team, be the cheerleader and decision maker, and then get in front of the camera and be hilarious. And surprising.”
Do you think Wiig will be as big as some of her SNL predecessors?

Search for Missing California Teen Sierra LaMar Goes Underwater Sonar Images Taken Earlier This Week

There has been a break in the case of missing 15 year old Sierra LaMar. Authorities have arrested 21 year old Antolin Garcia-Torres on suspicion of murder and kidnapping in the disappearance of Sierra LaMar. According to the police press conference, they stated that they had a lot of physical evidence in the case that connects Antolin Garcia-Torres to the disappearance of  Sierra LaMar.   The Northern California teen Sierra LaMar has been missing since March 16, 2012 when she was last seen at 6 AM leaving for school.
Authorities have arrested a man in the kidnapping and death of a Northern California teenager whose disappearance more than two months ago has prompted hundreds of volunteers to turn out for organized searches.
Antolin Garcia-Torres was arrested Monday evening at a Safeway store in Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said at a late Monday news conference.
“We believe we have probable cause that he committed the kidnapping and murder of Sierra LaMar,” she said.
Antolin Garcia-Torres. (Santa Clara County Sheriff)
Earlier this month, investigators located a red Volkswagen Jetta that they said may have been connected to Sierra Lemar’s  abduction. Surveillance cameras and witnesses put the car near the area where authorities believed the 15 year old disappeared. According to reports, Antolin Garcia-Torres is the owner of the red Jetta in connection with this case of missing Sierra LaMar. DNA evidense was found that links Torres to clothing found in her backpack.
Garcia-Torres, a resident of nearby San Martin, is the owner of the red Jetta that authorities seized on May 8th in connection with the case. A source tells KTVU authorities found DNA evidence that links Garcia-Torres to clothing found in the missing girl’s backpack, which was recovered after she vanished.
Authorities told KTVU Garcia-Torres had been under 24-hour surveillance since he was identified as a possible suspect at both his home and at the Safeway store. A source tells the station Garcia-Torres was questioned for over two hours Monday.
15 year old Sierra LaMar has been missing since March 16, 2012 when she was last seen leaving her home in the morning to get the bus to go to school. She has never been seen or heard from since. The search for the missing  Morgan Hill, CA teen has now gone to the water. Divers searched the  Chesbro and Uvas  reservoirs near the home of missing Sierra LaMar as investigators analyze underwater sonar images taken earlier this week.
Nearly a month after her disappearance, the search for missing teen Sierra LaMar has moved underwater.
Divers searched two reservoirs near the teen’s Morgan Hill, Calif., home but did not find any signs of the missing cheerleader.
Investigators plan to analyze underwater sonar images taken earlier this week.
Despite the severe weather much of the state experienced on Friday, volunteers plan to spend the weekend searching for LaMar, 15, who disappeared on March 16 while on the way to catch her school bus.

Emily Maynard Becomes the Next Bachelorette

Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, many people know Emily Maynard from the 15th season of the Bachelor with Brad Womack. She caught the attention of many when she shared her tragic story about her famous NASCAR driver fiancé Ricky Hendrick and his passing in a deadly plane crash. Shortly after the crash she learned that she was pregnant with Ricky’s baby, which was a much needed gift from God to Emily and Ricky’s family following his death. She gave birth to a baby girl, named Josephine Riddick “Ricki” Hendrick, in June of 2005 and became a parent. Following the birth of her daughter she began to try and further her broadcast journalism career by using her connections to NASCAR. She first hosted a podcast for Speed Channel called Emily on The Scene in 2006 and then hosted a nationally televised series called Three Wide Life. Today she works for Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC as an event coordinator. The Levine hospital includes the Ricky Hendrick Centers for Intensive Care that was named after Ricky when his parents donated $3 million dollars to the Levine Children’s hospital.
While on the show, Emily from the Bachelor became a household name as she dated Brad Womack in front of millions of viewers on the 15th Season of the Bachelor. She instantly won over many of the shows fans with her tragic story and happy ending with the birth of her daughter. Many viewers wanted to see her find love after having to endure the loss of her fiancé Ricky Hendrick. Ultimately she won the heart, and the final Rose, of Brad Womack and the show ended with a proposal of marriage. She had made plans for her and her daughter to move to Austin to join Brad Womack, but the on and off relationship ended shortly after the show in June of 2011. Currently Emily Maynard is rumored to be in talks with ABC to be the next Bachelorette, though she has denied all of the rumors.
We really hope that the rumors of Emily from the Bachelor are true because we so loved watching her week after week to see what she was going to be wearing next. With her effortlessly chic laid back style, we love seeing how she creatively accessorizes each outfit. She is said to shop at stores that we can all afford such as Target and Forever 21! But she also splurges on high end items here and there just like the rest of us! Her favorite fashion accessory is her bracelets, which we adore. And that long beautiful blonde hair, well, we’d give anything for hair like that!!! Hopefully Emily will indeed be the next Bachelorette, because we can’t think of a more fashionable sweet girl that we’d rather watch week after week to see her find the man of her dreams!

Lea Michele's Favorite Family Activity Is Getting Tattooed

Her Glee alter ego doesn't get much edgier than a Madonna dance routine, but off camera, Lea Michele's inner bad girl makes an outward appearance – 14 times.

The actress, who plays Rachel Berry on the Fox series (whose finale season airs Tuesday night), flaunts more than a dozen tattoos and says her ink addiction runs in the family.

"I come from a very big Italian family, and tattoos are very popular," Michele, 25, said on Monday's Late Show with David Letterman. "We'll be like, 'Let's all get tattoos.' "

She added: "Then we get super sentimental, and then the next day I wake up with, like, another butterfly on my foot. And I'm like, it seemed more important in the moment."

Their latest outing? Easter, said the Broadway-turned-TV star, whose skin decor includes a bird on her hip and a butterfly – a nod to her 2006 role in Spring Awakening – on her right foot.

"Some people go hunting for eggs," she told Letterman. "We go get tattoos."

So will Michele take a family outing to the tattoo parlor to commemorate her character's pending graduation on Glee?

"All my secret hidden spots are done," said Michele, who was spotted smooching costar Cory Monteith last week. "My real estate is over."
